教材是外语学习的重要载体，有着不可或缺的地位。国内外在教材编写方面都有大量的研究和成功的经验。近十年来，国内外出版社出版了一批非常有影响的教材。本文简要评述这些教材在教材定位、编写理念、编写目的，阅读与写作的关系以及练习设计等方面的特色，以期对我国的教材建设提供借鉴与参考。

Coursebooks play a crucial role in foreign language learning and teaching．Lots of research has been done into coursebook writing and a variety of well-accepted coursebooks have been published by foreign presses in the recent decade． The paper gives a brief review regarding the philosophy，the purpose，the relationship between reading and writing，as well as exercise design of reading and writing coursebooks，with a view to offering some instructive insight for material development at home．
