摘要

根据我国实际情况,大学英语教学在由通用英语向专门用途英语转型中,应把重点放在通用学术英语上,用通用学术英语替代现行的大学英语课程。尽管通用学术英语和大学英语都有通用性质,都是面向跨学科的不同专业的学生,培养其语言交际能力,但是两者在教学目的、教学内容和方法上都存在很大差异: 学术英语是以需求为根本,以内容为依托,以能力为核心,以项目为驱动,以学生为中心和以使用为目的的教学,因而现行的大学英语课程是无法胜任学术英语教学的。

Abstract

During the paradigm shift of EFL teaching at tertiary level from EGP ( English for General Purposes) to ESP ( English for Specific Purposes) in Chinese context,the focus should be on EGSP ( English for General Academic Purposes) which may take the place of the current college English integrated course. Although both deal with language and train their general literacy, EGAP differs from EGP in the objective,content and methodology. It is characterized by its need-focused,content-based. learner- centered,project-driven instruction,an instruction which can not be performed by the current college English integrated course.
