摘要

本文基于自建的中国大学生英语作文语料库,研究了学生在英语写作中对个案词汇 SO 及其相关短语结构的使用情况,重点分析了它们在频率、 语体、 类联接和语义韵等方面的特征, 并比较了中国学生与本族语者使用的异同。研究发现,中国学生的作文中存在过度使用 SO 的情况, 但随着英语水平的提高, 对 SO 及其短语结构的使用量呈现下降态势,逐渐靠近本族语者的使用状况。此外, SO 的使用有明显的口语体语言特征,与本族语者相比,类联接模式差异显著,但语义韵特征有同有异。

Abstract

Based on a self-built corpus of English compositions by Chinese English majors, this paper explored the features of SO and some of its collocations in L2 writings from the dimensions of frequencies, register, colligation, and semantic prosody compared with those in the English native speakers'( NSs) corpus. This study has found SO was overused in L2 writings, but with the development of their English proficiency, the frequencies of SO and its typical collocations were reducing and getting closer to the use of the NSs. The study has also found that the register features of SO in composition had salient spoken English features, that the patterns of colligation were significantly different from those of the NSs, and that the semantic prosody was similar with that of the NSs, but with some differences.
