This paper aims to review Bonny Norton's book Identity and Language Learning: Extending the Conversation ( Multilingual matters, 2013) , the second edition of Identity and Language Learning: Gender, Race, and Educational Change. The second edition includes a new comprehensive introduction, updating the literature on identity and language learning and reviewing the author's insightful ideas that have been proved very productive in this field as well as Claire Kramsch's compelling afterword. This paper introduces the main contents of the book, especially the revised parts, and then provides a brief appraisal.
