翻译作为语言运用的形式之一，从译者心智活动的产生、到言语表征形式的选择再到翻译关系的最终结成，翻译过程的各环节均受意向性和语境的影响和制约。本研究基于“因果蕴涵理论”，认为原作与译作之间构成“因果可能”关系，并从意向性和语境两个维度出发，构建起“翻译因果关系心智过程模型”。在该模型框架下，结合经典文学作品的不同用例，透析影响译者在翻译过程中心智选择和言语表征的主客观缘由，以描述、还原翻译因果关系得以结成的具体过程。

Translation, a typical form of language-use, exists under constant regulations and restrictions imposed by intentionality and context, which play a vital role in deciding on the development of the translator’s mental activities, the output of verbal representations, and the generation of ST-TT relation. Drawing upon the theory of causal implication, the paper is intended to justify the causality of translation by proposing a mental model to visualize the generation of causality between ST and TT. Within the framework of the model, the paper, taking into account the bidirectional relationship between intentionality and context, illustrates with use cases the particulars that bind the translator’s mental choices and verbal representations during the translation process.
