以往有关省略结构的研究较少关注语序这一要素，本文通过英汉日动词省略和谓语省略对比研究发现，英汉日在省略结构上的差异与语序密切相关。由于语序的不同，直接影响到句法结构上的差异，并由此产生了两种省略类型——顺向省略和逆向省略。在区分认知机制和句法机制的前提下，就日语而言，虽然顺向省略符合认知机制，但当句法条件满足时，其省略结构会由顺向省略转向逆向省略。在跨语言验证的基础上，本文认为，语序是跨语言省略研究时的重要因素，是省略的句法语义限制条件之一。

 This paper presents a contrastive study between English, Chinese and Japanese Gapping and VP Ellipsis, and points out the importance of word order in ellipsis studies. The word order influences the differences of syntactic structures and produces the forward ellipsis and backwards ellipsis. The paper distinguishes the cognitive mechanism and syntactic mechanism. For Japanese ellipsis, the forward ellipsis can be accounted by cognitive mechanism, but when it is satisfied by the syntactic condition, the forward ellipsis will turn into the backwards ellipsis. Based on the cross-linguistic data, the paper concludes that the word order plays an important role in ellipsis study and is one of the ellipsis syntactic-semantic interface restrictions.
