摘要

当下英语专业的危机在于单纯的语言训练无法使英语成为一个真正的专业,其出路在于明确英语专业的人文学科定位。英语专业是以英语为媒介的跨文化研究型人文专业,核心是基于人文通识教育理念对英语人文经典文本的研读。人文教育与语言能力培养是统一的,与此同时,学生完成了语言的习得。海外一流高校的外语专业教育通过文学文化课程的学习进行语言能力提高,是值得我国英语专业参考的模式。

Abstract

The English major in China focuses mostly on language training, which is the reason behind its current crisis. As one of the humanities, English is a discipline devoted to intercultural studies through the English language. Based on the idea of liberal education it centers around the close reading of classic texts in English. In the process of this liberal education, students acquire the language. Foreign studies programs in some prominent universities overseas are good examples of improving language skills through liberal education.
