本文基于认知语言学概念化理论，对比汉英对动作和时间的不同概念化方式。主要发现有二：一是汉语对部分动作的概念化具有双向可逆特征，而英语却表现出单向不可逆特征；二是汉语对时间的表征具有二维空间性，而英语对其则呈一维线序特征。本文提出，汉英在这两方面存在区别的深层缘由，或许与二者的时空性思维差异有关。

Based on the notion of conceptualization in cognitive linguistics, this paper attempts to make a contrastive study of the different ways of conceptualizing actions and time demonstrated by the Chinese and English languages. There are two main points that have been observed by this paper: (1) the way of conceptualization of actions expressed by quite a number of Chinese verbs assumes the trait of bidirectionality and reversibility, while the English way of conceptualiztion is unidirectional and irreversible; (2) the method that Chinese people employ in conceptualizing time exhibits the characteristic of bidimensional spatiality, while that used by the English nation shows the feature of unidimensional linearity. What the paper holds is that the root cause of the above-mentioned discrepancies between Chinese and English might be ascribed to the Chinese people’s emphasis on spatiality and the English people’s preference for temporality.
