摘要

现有语用修辞研究过于关注言语的实用效果(如话语意义的传达?说话人意图的实现)而忽视(汉语)传统 修辞学所关注的语言审美取向?本文倡导的语用修辞学是语用学与修辞学的界面研究,这样的学科新定位兼顾实用与审美,可以构建从施为语用?社会语用?认知语用等维度对修辞话语的行事效果?人际效果?诗意效果进行阐释的分析框架,补充汉语传统修辞研究所忽略的维度?分析框架的提出不仅能使语用修辞学更为全面,还能使语用修辞研究摆脱以往寻找语用与修辞结合点的零散性而走向更具系统性的界面路径?

Abstract

The existing studies of pragma-rhetoric, among others, dominantly focus on practical needs (for instance, meaning conveying and intention realization) but ignore the core taste of (especially Chinese) traditional rhetoric —language aesthetic appreciation. Pragma-rhetoric is an interface of pragmatics and rhetoric. Different from the existing literature, this paper holds that pragma-rhetoric needs to cover both practical needs and aesthetic appreciation of language use. In order to clarify the disciplinary position of pragmarhetoric and develop an applicable analysis framework, after careful literature reviewing and examples scrutinizing, this paper integrates theoretical perspectives like social, cognitive and performative pragmatics to pursue (including but not limited to)“doingthingseffects”,“interpersonal effects” and “poetic effects ”of an utterance, which fall outside of the focus of traditional rhetoric. Following this line, an analysis framework is proposed and illustrated in this paper, to make pragma-rhetoric an essential complementary to (especial Chinese) traditional rhetoric. Then, pragma-rhetoric could not only develop in a more complete but more systematic manner as an interface discipline, rather than, as what have been done in the existing literature, keep looking for scattered potential joinable points or levels of pragmatics and rhetoric.
