摘要

商务英语通用语(BELF)交际受到商务机构和多元文化语境双重制约,语用能力在资源利用及知识建构方面有独特性。本研究从单语言?单文化到多语言?多文化发展变化的角度,梳理商务语境下的语用能力,讨论交互文化语用能力的概念,旨在对BELF交际中的语用能力重新概念化。在探究BELF 的四大特征后,基于实例分析,发现BELF 交际中交互文化语用能力体现为以完成任务为取向的语言资源利用,以及以寻求与创造共知基础为取向的交互文化建构。

Abstract

Business English as a lingua franca (BELF)is characteristic of institutional constraints and multiculturality, the pragmatic competence thus demonstrates uniqueness in exploiting language resources and constructing common knowledge. This article conceptualizes intercultural pragmatic competence in BELF after reviewing the development of pragmatic competence from a monolingual and monocultural context to a multilingual and multicultural one;it then explores four institutional characteristics of BELF. With examples drawn from the VOICE, it further examines the task-oriented employment of language resources and the construction of intercultures for seeking and creating common ground in BELF meetings.
