摘要

本研究对 119 名非英语专业大学生三种体裁写作语言复杂性和准确性特征及其互动关系进行研究。研究发现,议论文句法复杂性最高;记叙文词汇复杂性最高;描写文语言准确性最高。三种体裁的语言复杂性与准确性之间都呈现显著负相关,存在竞争关系。逐步回归分析表明,句法复杂性和词汇复杂性能够影响并预测相同体裁的语言准确性,且句法复杂性对准确性的影响更大。研究结果对我国大学英语体裁写作教学具有一定启示意义。

Abstract

This study investigates the linguistic characteristics and interaction between linguistic complexity and accuracy in the essays of three different genres written by 119 Chinese non-English majors. Results indicate obvious cross-genre differences in linguistic characteristics, with argumentative essays exhibiting the highest syntactic complexity, narrative essays the highest accuracy, and descriptive essays the highest lexical diversity. Syntactic complexity has a significant negative correlation with accuracy across three genres, suggesting a trade-off effect between the two components. Stepwise regression analyses reveal syntactic complexity and lexical complexity as significant predictors of accuracy within the same genre, but syntactic complexity shows stronger predicting power. The results of this study provide some implications for teaching genre-based college English writing in China.
