Translation is intrinsically linked to the notion of fulfilling needs, as it arises from and responds to these needs. Consequently, the relationship between translation and needs has attracted significant attention from translators and scholars in the field. Preliminary research in this area has made notable contributions, particularly in terms of suggesting a fundamental definition of “translation needs”. However, further research is required to deepen our understanding in a more systematic manner. Drawing upon an overview of existing literature and an analysis of pertinent issues, this paper advocates for a systematic investigation into translation needs and proposes a potential research project to address this gap, attempting to provide a reference for future researches on this topic.
