Abstract

The reform of educational assessment is an important part of the new round of curriculum reform in China and there exists an urgent demand for an assessment model that can help shape people’s understanding of the concept of assessment for learning. This paper introduces the Student Academic Achievement Evaluation (SAAE) program which has been developed to meet this important need. SAAE is a diagnostic assessment system based on the National Curriculum Standards that evaluates the process of the academic achievement of Grade Eight middle school students. The aim is to provide the educational administration at different levels and middle schools with feedback information obtained from the analysis of test results and questionnaire survey data.
