Thinking and Researching Into a “Hands-on” Approach to Translation and Teaching

Abstract

Based on the huge demanments of the translation market, a practical “hands-on” translation learning mode is vital to the training of translation talents in universities and the key to improving the graduates’ actual translating competence. This paper focuses on a "hands-on" Approach to translation and teaching, that is the translation practice program carried out outside class by participating in translation tasks offered by local enterprises, the university’s translation club and the local translation companies. Furthermore, students can also conduct independent academic research and translation projects combined with the local economic development and take part in social practice for translation in summer vacation. Therefore students’ translation ability can be improved significantly.
