Lin Yutang’s successful cross-culture dissemination of the Chinese wisdom is a typical cultural event of great significance in the world history, setting up a valuable example for today’s cultural communication between different countries. Focusing on Lin Yutang’s adaptive translation, the present paper explores Lin’s harmonious perspectives of both culture and translation, translation consisting in the integration of writing, translating and editing with the Chinese-tune pattern, systematic and popularized way of translation, effective use of the paratexts and domestic and international collaborative translation.
