Abstract

This paper attempts at a thorough examination of Quine s philosophy of translation. Quine s contribution lies in: 1) ontological validation of translatability; 2) epistemological corroboration of the indeterminacy of translation; 3) methodological probe of radical translation. Quine s limitations are: 1) a behaviorist view on meaning; 2) fuzziness and impracticability of sentence categorization.
