Abstract

Teaching and Research ( T & R) , as two cornerstones to support the sustainable development of colleges & universities, are recently plagued by T & R internal alienation arising from their competitive relationship. To remedy the situation, the paper, oriented to the“talent cultivation” , an inherent university function, advocates the academic research of teaching on ground of T & R reconstruction so that Teaching and Research can feed into each other. The strategic reconciliation holds implications for EFL teachers' self-directed professional development as well as effective fulfillment of basic functions on the part of colleges and universities.
