Translational competence functions as a key element for the assessment of translation quality． This paper argues that the understanding of translational competence changes in line with social changes， and that the translation competence in the new normal differs greatly with the traditional translation competence． The paper believes that adequate understanding of the new features of the translational competence is critical for the translation education．
