Validity analysis of the theoretical model of L2 Motivational Self System among various groups of English learners in China

Abstract

Based on an empirical survey and its analysis results,the present research aims to testify the validity of the theoretical model of L2 Motivational Self System among five groups of L2 learners in China. The data were collected through two questionnaires among a total of 956 participants. The statistical results of structural equation modeling and path analysis confirmed the validity of the theoretical model of L2 Motivational Self System,since the fitting indices of the structural equation modeling met the requirements of various fitting index standards and the results of the path analysis also suggested the significance of almost all the paths in the model. Therefore,the conclusion is that the theoretical model of L2 Motivational Self System can be acceptable. More specifically speaking,the theoretical model of L2 Motivational Self System can be validated among various groups of English learners in China.
