A Practical Study on the English Pronunciation and Intonation Contest in College English Pronunciation Teaching

Abstract

This paper reviews the English Pronunciation and Intonation Contest held in East China Normal University. A practical research is conducted to justify the its positive impacts on improving English pronunciation teaching and learning. Some transformative views on English pronunciation teaching and evalutions are proposed : 1)pay special attention to students’ congitive development in the process of pronunciation teaching. 2) show great concern to students’ emotional needs; 3) place importance on the teaching and learning feedbacks. 4) develope students’ mental and intellectual competence in real-life communication. It provides a brand new vision on reforming China’s English Pronunciation teaching and evalution system.
