Translation teaching of Christian universities in modern China

Abstract

Based on a large quantity of scholarship, memoirs and archives, this paper conducts an in-depth investigation into the translation teaching of Christian universities, namely the translation course design, translation textbooks and translation teachers. It is concluded that teachers and students from Christian universities have made major contribution to translation cause in modern China and beyond and that Christian universities as a whole have exerted great influence on translation history. It is also argued that translation teaching of Christian universities, the cradle of numerous translation talents, is enlightening to translation teaching and translation practice of Chinese literature today.
