Eclipsing and innovation of translation: The two paths of yan yu xing wei study in Chinese academia
In Chinese academia, “yan yu xing wei” is an important term which makes a breakthrough from the duality between words and deeds. This term contains two western research paths: verbal behavior study in the behaviorism school and speech act study in the language philosophy school. The two paths are very different in the academic origins, the representative scholars, research methods and academic applications. When the two paths were introduced into China, Chinese scholars happened to use the same term“yan yu xing wei”. The translational action, on the one hand, covers the boundary of the two paths, but on the other hand, accidentally opened the boundary of the two paths at the same time, which gives birth to a new understanding in the Chinese academia.
