Distinctions between Cultural and Social Factors in Translatorial Behavior Study

Abstract

There is a blurred boundary between social and cultural factors in the study of Translatorial Behavior. A theoretical discussion on their distinctions and relations is, on the one hand, the methodological demand of Descriptive Translation Studies, and serves as the basis to ascertain the perspectives and focuses for both cultural and sociological approaches to Translation Studies on the other. With those it is concluded that Translatorial Behavior study explores the sociology of translation production, focusing on translators’ socialized behaviors and their motivations behind with cultural factors as one of the cognitive causes they are concerned about.
