Comparisons of three learning models of university foreign language teachers in China and their implications

Abstract

In the past 15 years, the author of the paper as a team leader has developed and applied three models of professional learning of university foreign language teachers. The three models consist of thematic short courses, professional learning communities and virtual professional learning communities. The paper compares the strengths and weaknesses of the three models, based on which suggestions are put forward for the purpose of optimizing the ways of university foreign language teachers’ professional learning in China.
