Abstract
Released in May 2020, Guidelines for Ideological and Political Construction of Curriculum in Colleges and Universities puts forward that colleges and universities should take fostering virtues as their primary task, namely integrating the guidance of values into knowledge impartment and ability development, in order to realize the ideals of all-staff, whole-process and all-round ideological and political education. Thus, the teaching of ideology should be reinforced in college English teaching so as to foster virtues of those receiving education and realize the educational role of college English courses. Based on the ideological teaching practice carried out by these two authors, this article attempts to construct a new teaching mode for foreign literature courses, which combines the language competence, the literary teaching and the ideological education.
