Abstract

“Introduction to Translation” is one of the compulsory courses of Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) degree program. This course aims to equip students with a basic understanding of translation theory and translation industry. A majority of universities with the MTI program have set this course. The study on this course, however, is quite few. The teaching of "Introduction to Translation" at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies has undergone many years of exploration and has formed a curriculum model that is guided mainly by professionalization and is based on the task-based teaching. From the perspective of the demand for high-level talents in the current language service market, this paper describes the content, teaching model and assessment method of this course, with an objective to provide reference for other universities with the MTI program.
