Abstract

The Declaration of New Liberal Arts was issued at the Conference of New Liberal Arts, which mapped out the construction of New Liberal Arts in 2020. The integration and innovation of New Liberal Arts provides guidance for reform of foreign language education in universities. Taking English and American literature teaching as an example, this study discusses how to promote integration and innovation in foreign language teaching: integrating with modern information technology, and actively exploring and practicing online and offline blended teaching, and establishing student- centered teaching model; combining with philosophy, economy and politics, etc; integrating the elements of the era and Chinese literature and culture. In this way, the teaching improves students innovation ability and critical thinking, and enables them to learn British and American literature while establishing pride and cherishing national feelings for China‘s long and splendid literature and culture.
