Abstract
The English translation of political discourse with Chinese characteristics is carried out by the two principles of “political equivalence” and “political special effect”. Based on the principle of “political equivalence”, translators mainly adopt such translation strategies as discourse transplanting, concept explicitation, partial omission and semantic deduction, ensuring to accurately transfer the political connotation of the source text. While based on the principle of “political special effect”, translators mainly adopt such translation strategies as discourse reconstruction, discourse interpretation, discourse innovation and discourse condensation, so as to improve the reception effect of the target text. In order to achieve the desired effects, translators should uphold four kinds of subjective consciousnesses, namely, the national consciousness, political consciousness, international consciousness, and consciousness of a community with shared future for mankind.
