Abstract

This is a study on NCSSFL-ACTFL Global Can-do Statement Performance Indicators for Language Learners. It can help learners set personal studying goals and map their learning route, regularly check the progress of learning, and achieve lifelong learning. It can be used as a guide to developing courses, promoting study assessments and language assessments. This study details the content, purpose, the relationship between this system and other U. S. scales; the application of the system in teaching and learning, the attentions to be noticed and application cases; an in-depth analysis of the advantages of this system. This paper analyzes the enlightenments of the system to China’s CSE: regard the intercultural communication ability as an important indicator of language ability; put the Can-do performance Indicators as a tool for learner reflection; design Can-do Benchmarks compatible with Can-do performance indicator system; pay attention to the application of the competency scale to various stakeholders; build China’s Can-do Statements Performance Indicators for Language Learners.
