Abstract
This study puts forward the urgent needs to cultivate advanced foreign language talents of area studies. Firstly, it analyzes the necessity and urgency from the international, national and university levels. Secondly, three international typical cultivating models of advanced foreign language talents of area studies are proposed: the overseas-immersion practice model of the United States and Australia, the inter-college model of the liberal arts in Russia and Britain, the all-round world general education model of Japan and Korea. This paper analyzes the contents, steps and significance of the research on the cultivation of advanced foreign language talents of area studies in our country. This paper also puts forward a multi-dimensional research model of the talents cultivation from the perspectives of needs, strategy, status quo, goal, framework, discipline, major, curriculum, teaching material, teaching staff, evaluation, quality assurance and talent capability index system.
