Abstract
Dictionary contains a nation’s cultural memory. Analysis of the memory of culture-specific words based on semantic prosody helps users to grasp its systematic meanings. From the perspective of semantic prosody, the present study analyzes the memory model of culture-specific words in C-E dictionaries, aiming to probe into their memory access, reconstruction, and improvement. The results indicate that the limited access to memory fails to form systematic semiotics chain, and the unipolar and neutralization of semantic prosody norms result in the simplification of contents in cultural memory. Some cross-language corresponding units fail to form the condensation across the space. Finally, the study manages to enrich the memory access, complete the intertextuality structure to form the semiotic chain, and construct the systematic condensation through rich memory field, in order to realize the reconstruction of sematic prosody in cultural-specific words.
