							Since the start of the new era, the rise of the language service industry, the rapid development of translation technology, and the implementation of national strategies such as the the “Belt and Road Initiative” have all brought about many changes to the field of translation, and have also made the cultivation of talents encounter unprecedented challenges. This paper is an interview with Professor Xu Jun, in which he shares his thoughts on talents training and the construction of translation competence in the new era based on his own experience in teaching and translation. It discusses the standards, paths and measures for the training of translators in the new era, puts forward new requirements based on the national strategy and market demand, and previews the development of doctoral degree for translation and interpreting.
